Genesis 1-11 & the Epic of Gilgamesh

The purpose of this assignment is to write a paper comparing an ancient Near Eastern myth with the biblical narrative.

Read the Genesis flood narrative in Genesis 6-9 and then read the section of the Gilgamesh epic that tells of a Babylonian flood story (in Tablet XI, the first 190 lines). Compare and contrast these 2 accounts noting similarities and differences. Do not just concentrate on the details (specific items or events) but compare and contrast the greater conceptual concepts, too. Choose any source for readings in Gilgamesh.
